Chamber Business News: January 2020

27 January – Meeting with the Thai Minister of Education H.E. Mr. Nataphol Teepsuwan

On Monday 27 January, 2020, AustCham Thailand President, Wayne Williams, Vice President, M.L. Laksasubha Kridakon, and Executive Director, Brendan Cunningham, attended a meeting with the Thai Minister of Education H.E. Mr. Nataphol Teepsuwan. The meeting was initiated as an opportunity to review the work of the International Vocational Education committee over the past two years under the previous Minister of Education and discuss the future direction of the committee under H.E. Mr. Teepsuwan’s ministry. Overall, a productive meeting, also attended by our colleagues from the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand,  British Chamber of Commerce Thailand,  German-Thai Chamber of Commerce, Irish-Thai Chamber of Commerce, and Singapore-Thai Chamber of Commerce.

Later that evening, we joined the Foreign Chamber Alliance (FCA) – AMCHAM, BCCT, GTCC – for a dinner with H.E. Mr. Teepsuwan and members of our respective Chambers.

On Friday 24 January, 2020, AustCham Thailand Vice President, M.L. Laksasubha Kridakon attended a presentation on the impact of the Australian bushfires on Australian Tourism by Dr David Beirman Ph.D; Senior Lecturer: Tourism, Management Discipline Group at UTS Business School.

23 January – Phuket Member Briefing: TCEB’s Plans for MICE Business Development in 2020

On Thursday 23rd January 2020, AustCham Thailand, in collaboration with the Australian Consulate General Phuket, held an Australia Day Phuket Sundowners at SALA Phuket Resort, Mai Khao Beach. Prior to the Networking, we held a Phuket Member Briefing: TCEB’s Plans for MICE Business Development in 2020 . Thanks to our speakers, Puripan Bunnag, Director at Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Ranjeet Viswanathan; PHA Working Group Member & Commercial Director, Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa and John O’Shea; PHA Working Group Member & Managing Director, Splash Beach Resort, Mai Khao Phuket for taking their time to share their expertise for MICE business development on Phuket.
