Rain Tree Café reopens with innovative rolling buffet The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok

Rain Tree Café will reopen on Friday 17 July 2020 with a novel rolling buffet concept together with a chef-to-table cooking trolley service, live stations, and a new luxury weekend brunch with specialties that include Canadian lobster and king crab on both Saturday and Sunday.

The reopening will be marked with a Grand Seafood Dinner Buffet on 17 July from 06:00 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. priced at THB 1,900++ per person to inaugurate the new-style restaurant.

Although the restaurants on the 3rd floor epicurean hub of The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok had opened earlier, Rain Tree Café, the hotel’s popular all-day restaurant, had remained closed for design reconfiguration to ensure compliance with government regulations and Safety & Health Administration (SHA) certification.

With the rolling buffet concept, as well as having the new buffet set-up to new safety standards, the buffet will also come to the guests. Hot and cold dishes and desserts will be served from trolleys and from à la minute service to the tables while the live chef stations will provide their own tableside cooking.

Cold trolleys will be wheeled around the restaurant serving dishes such as Caesar salad, crab and prawn noodle salad, and red snapper ceviche. Artisan trolleys will deliver quiche, terrines, seafood cocktail, burrata, and other dishes. Antipasto trolleys will serve charcuterie, cured meats, caviar and blinis, and truffled beef tartar, while dessert trolleys will be available for sweets such as mango with sticky rice, crepes Suzette, rum baba, and ice cream.

Weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday will be priced at THB 2,500++ per person, with free flow of soft drinks, fruit juices, mocktails, water, illy coffee and tea, and is served from 12:00 P.M. to 03:30 P.M.

Two special beverage packages are available at a supplementary price. The Royal Package includes all house brands of beer, wine (excluding champagne), spirits and prosecco at THB 1,400++, while the Princess VA Package has all these together with Veuve Clicquot Champagne, at THB 3,000++. 

Standard prices for the lunch buffet are THB 1,300++ for Thursday to Friday, with the dinner at THB 1,700++ for Thursday and Sunday and THB 1,900++ for seafood buffet on Friday to Saturday. 

The Athenee Hotel was the first hotel in Thailand to receive the Safety & Health Administration (SHA) certificate, issued by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to hotels taking measures to ensure the highest standards on cleanliness, hygiene and social distancing. 

Prior to receiving SHA certification, The Athenee, which had remained open throughout lockdown, had received certification from the Ministry of Health for safety and hygiene measures taken to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
