Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok marks Pride Month with a full day of celebration on Saturday, 20 June 2026, bringing together the power of cinema, the spirit of community, and a rooftop party paying a tribute to Freddie Mercury. From a curated afternoon of LGBTQIA+ films open to the public, to an all-night rock celebration at Bar.Yard featuring a special guest shift from one of Asia’s most acclaimed cocktail bars, this is Pride done the Kimpton way: with heart, without reservation.

PRIDE FILM FESTIVAL | 6TH EDITION

Now in its sixth edition, the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok Pride Film Festival returns with a day-long programme of curated, iconic LGBTQIA+ cinema. Held at the Grand Studio on the 6th floor, this year’s line-up spans continents and decades; four award-winning films that have moved, challenged and celebrated queer stories.

Screenings are open to the public with free admission upon advance reservation. Selected snacks and drinks are available for purchase during the screenings. Attendees can also look forward to limited edition special goodies courtesy of LUSH Thailand.

1:00 p.m. — Saving Face (USA, 2004 | 91 mins.)

7:40 p.m. — The Rocky Horror Picture Show (UK/USA, 1975 | 100 mins.)

BREAK FREE AT BAR.YARD | A TRIBUTE TO FREDDIE MERCURY

When the final credits roll, the night turns all the way up. From 9:00 p.m., Bar.Yard transforms into a sky-high tribute to one of rock’s greatest icons. “Break Free at Bar.Yard” is a Freddie Mercury-themed celebration of music, freedom and full-volume self-expression, exactly how Pride should feel.

Big Joe & Voodoo Boys take over with high-energy sets packed with 70s, 80s and 90s rock anthems built for singing along loudly and slightly off-key. Between live sets, the spotlight shifts to the crowd with dedicated karaoke sessions led by VIBE Soundsystem, inviting guests to step up, grab the mic and channel their inner Freddie. Whether it’s a dramatic solo performance, a chaotic group singalong or a full “Bohemian Rhapsody” moment with strangers-turned-best-friends, the night is designed to be loud, playful and impossible to watch from the sidelines. Keeping the energy high into the early hours, DJ Pegg closes out the night with dancefloor-ready hits and crowd favourites.

Special Guest Shift: To Infinity and Beyond, Taipei

Elevating the evening further, Bar.Yard welcomes a guest shift from To Infinity and Beyond from 7:00 p.m. onwards, Taipei’s boundary-pushing contemporary cocktail bar, ranked #41 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025 and #299 on the World’s Top 500 Bars 2025. Since opening in 2019, the bar has built its reputation on a philosophy of liquid art and refinement; harnessing modern scientific techniques such as 

rotovap distillation and centrifugation to craft cocktails that explore texture, flavours and imagination in equal measure.

Leading the shift is Mars Chang, founder of To Infinity and Beyond and one of Taiwan’s most celebrated bartenders. A multiple competition champion, including the 2021 World Class Taiwan Champion, Mars brings the same visionary approach to every glass he crafts, treating each cocktail as a portal into something unexpected and unforgettable.

“Break Free at Bar.Yard” on Saturday, 20 June 2026 kicks off at 7:00 p.m. with the To Infinity and Beyond guest shift, followed by the curated Freddie-coded entertainment from 9:00 p.m. onwards.
