AustCham Raises Expatriate CGT Concerns with Australian Shadow Treasurer

Chamber Business News

On Friday August 21st, I had the pleasure of meeting with the Hon Tim Wilson MP, Australian Federal Shadow Treasurer at his Electoral Offices in Brighton, Melbourne.

We discussed the recent Australian federal budget CGT changes and the adverse consequences that will likely directly and unfairly affect Australian expatriates globally.

I also had the opportunity to make Tim aware of a zoom call coming up on Aug 25th led by Aust-Cham Thailand covering Chambers in Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Laos on which thousands of members will hear from BDO partners in relation to the tax changes and what it means for expatriates.

Expats take calculated career risks to pursue growth offshore and are highly experienced and smart. At the end of their contract Expats then return home to Australia, implement career and personal skills & experience gained from being offshore to the benefit of Australian companies and shareholders.

For members of Aust-Cham Thailand ; know that your issues were raised and we are front and center only meters from the dispatch box !

Many thanks Hon Tim Wilson for your time today.
