Message from Chamber

As we begin this month's update, I would like to first acknowledge the recent passing of a member of the Royal Family. On behalf of the Australian-Thai Chamber of Commerce, I extend our deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to His Majesty the King, the Royal Family, and the people of Thailand during this period of mourning. The Thai nation has always demonstrated remarkable unity, dignity, and resilience during times of sadness, and we pay our respects while honouring the significant contribution made to the Kingdom.

Business has faced its fair share of headwinds over recent months. Uncertainty in global markets, driven in part by tensions in the Middle East, has caused many businesses to pause and reassess. However, there is a growing sense that we may be turning a corner. The resilience of the Thai market and the determination of business leaders continue to shine through. While challenges remain, perhaps now is the time to look ahead, reset where necessary, and get on with doing business — building businesses, creating jobs, and driving growth.

Against this backdrop, it was particularly pleasing to see such a strong turnout at the recent AustCham Golf Day. The event was a tremendous success and a wonderful reminder of the strength of our Australian business community in Thailand. It was more than just a day on the course; it was an opportunity for members, partners, clients and friends of the Chamber to come together in a relaxed environment, strengthen relationships, and enjoy the camaraderie that makes our community so special. The Golf Day felt like a true Australian community event. Seeing so many members supporting one another, sharing stories, and enjoying a great day together was a timely reminder that strong business communities matter, particularly during more challenging economic periods. I would like to sincerely thank our sponsors, participants, and the organising team whose hard work ensured the day was such an outstanding success.

As Treasurer and a Board Member, I am continually impressed by the dedication of my fellow Board members, committee leaders, and the AustCham team. The Chamber's success is built on the efforts of many volunteers who generously contribute their time and expertise for the benefit of our members. Their commitment often goes unseen, but it is deeply valued and deserves recognition. For members looking to become more involved in the Chamber, I would strongly encourage you to consider joining one of our subcommittees. They provide an excellent opportunity to contribute to the business community, build meaningful connections, and help shape the initiatives that matter most to our members. Whether your interests lie in sustainability, digital innovation, leadership, women in business, SME development, or one of our many other focus areas, there is likely a committee that aligns with your professional expertise and personal passion. If you would like to learn more, please reach out to the AustCham office, who will be delighted to help you find a committee that resonates with your purpose.

Looking ahead, I remain optimistic. Thailand continues to demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and long-term potential. Whilst challenges will always arise, businesses that remain focused on their customers, their people, and their strategy will be well positioned to succeed. As a Chamber, our role is to help create the connections, knowledge, and opportunities that allow our members to thrive.

Thank you for your continued support of AustCham. I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events as we continue to strengthen business ties, support one another, and build an even stronger Australian business community in Thailand.
