29 SEP - Guest Shift is Back! Yangdup Lama, India’s Mixology Icon, to Light Up the Night at ABar Rooftop

 ABar Rooftop, the stylish alfresco lounge on the top floor of Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, is gearing up for its next Guest Shift this month, as one of Asia’s most talented mixologists takes over the bar for an evening of creative cocktail-making.

On September 29, 2026, guests at ABar Rooftop can discover the unique skills of Yangdup Lama, the co-owner of Sidecar in Delhi, the first Indian venue on the “Bar World 100” list. As night falls over Bangkok, Lama will delight guests as he shakes and stirs a series of signature drinks, accompanied by stunning skyline views.

Established in 2018 in the bustling Greater Kailash II district of Delhi, Sidecar has become one of the most sought-after bars in India. It was ranked #26 in the “World’s 50 Best Bars” list in 2022, and #18 in “Asia’s 50 Best Bars” 2023 – largely due to Lama’s creativity and originality.

At ABar Rooftop, guests can savor a choice of three exclusive cocktails, expertly crafted by Lama to showcase the spirit of Sidecar. His signature Himalayan Martini blends Langley’s gin with Himalayan juniper vermouth and MONIN’s cordial using timur berries from Nepal, while Nutty Idea is a bitter-sweet concoction featuring Jim Bean bourbon with double espresso and two MONIN syrups: cinnamon and caramel with roasted peanuts. Finally, Remove the Oak is a deep sensation that combines Solisca tequila with MONIN smoked oak syrup, agave syrup, chili tincture and an orange wedge.

Originally from the world-famous tea-growing region of Darjeeling, Lama learned the art of bartending with Hyatt before launching his own venues. He was honored in the 50 Best Bars “Industry Icon Awards” 2024, and has been inducted into the “Keepers of the Quaich”, an exclusive international society for those who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to Scotch whisky.

“Life, like bartending, is like balance; timing and understanding what’s within,” Lama says.

The Guest Shift will be staged in partnership with MONIN, which has been producing world-class syrups for more than 100 years. Yangdup Lama’s cocktails will be available from 20:30 to 23:30 hrs, priced at THB 420++ per glass.
