Australian Embassy Thailand supports for the creation of a community library for the Makassan Railway community

Reading is one of the most important skills a child can learn, as it opens new worlds for them to explore and new ways for them to express themselves.

This year the Embassy is very proud to have supported the creation of a community library for the Makassan Railway community, with hundreds of works of fiction, non-fiction and early childhood books for children to read and share.

On 13 June, Ambassador McKinnon officially opened the library, together with Ms Jongkolkorn Singto, President of the Learning Management for Community Association and Mr Manop Pleawkleang, Vice President of the Foundation for Community Development. Thanks to Khun Jongkolkorn, Khun Manop and all the volunteers at the centre for giving us such a warm welcome!
