29 SEP – FCA Dinner at the British Ambassador’s residence

The Foreign Chamber Alliance (FCA) – AMCHAM, AustCham, BCCT, GTCC – held its third dinner this time hosted by BCCT and the British Ambassador at his residence. As with previous dinners, hosted by the U.S. and Australian Ambassadors respectively, FCA Presidents and Executive Directors, were joined by their Ambassadors and senior trade officials, and this time we welcomed the Japanese Ambassador and friends from the Japanese Chamber of Commerce.

There were detailed discussions on a wide range of topics including: entry into Thailand for non-Thai businesspeople, investors, technicians and engineers; likely positive progress on the Regulatory Guillotine in a few months’ time; positive engagement with the Immigration Bureau and a better understanding of specific responsibilities; flagging ‘tech’ especially disruptive technologies as a priority for chamber members; positive engagement with the Customs Department including addressing specific chamber member issues; commencement of a Clean Air initiative; how to best promote the Australian Embassy’s ‘Ten for Ten paper’ (link – here); and an exchange of views on Thailand’s economic and business prospects.

A hugely valuable event with much shared knowledge and best practice to be shared with AustCham members in the coming weeks.
