In line with its vision to create sustainable value for all stakeholders, Akara continues to drive meaningful social investment through community-focused initiatives. Guided by Pillar 2: Stakeholder Value Creation, the company continues to deliver lasting impact by supporting the social and economic development of communities surrounding the Chatree Gold Mine.
Recognising that children in rural areas often lack access to the same educational and extracurricular opportunities as those in urban centres, Akara’s latest community engagement efforts aim to bridge these gaps.
Beyond the Classroom: Inspiring Potential in Local Youth
Through the “Akara Dream Weaving and Wisdom Sharing Project – Batch 2,” children aged 7–12 from the 28 villages surrounding the mine are given the chance to grow beyond the classroom. The weekend program offers free courses in English, Chinese, traditional Thai and modern music, and Muay Thai — each taught by professional instructors.

These sessions are more than just extracurriculars; they’re safe spaces for discovery, confidence-building, and cultural enrichment. As students complete the program and receive their certificates, they carry forward more than just knowledge — they gain inspiration and pride that lasts far beyond school breaks.

Strength in Unity: Combating Drug Abuse Among Youth
As part of its broader efforts to protect and strengthen youth resilience, Akara recently supported the ‘MOI Youth Against Drugs’ campaign by sponsoring T-shirts for participating youth in Phichit.

The initiative, led by the Ministry of Interior, focuses on reducing new drug use among those under 18 by identifying at-risk youth and transforming their trajectories through positive engagement. Students from 30 schools across the province are selected to participate under the theme “Turning risk groups into strength.”

Kicking Off Dreams: Empowering Local Youth through Football
Akara also extended its support to Phichit United Football Club for the Thailand Semi-Pro League 2024/2025 season. This contribution reflects Akara’s commitment to strengthening local pride and fostering community spirit through sports, while helping elevate provincial-level football and athletic development in Phichit.

Local students were invited to attend matches and serve as player escorts — giving them a rare opportunity to step onto the field in front of cheering crowds. For many, it was a first glimpse into the wider world of professional sport, sparking dreams and building confidence. Through these experiences, Akara reinforces the belief that with the right support, children from any background can dream big and aim high.

Opening Doors for All: Building a School for Children with Special Needs
On 28 April 2025, Akara joined a charity campaign to raise funds for the construction of a new school for children with special needs in Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi. The project aims to build a 1,200-square-metre facility on 3.3 rai of land within Wat Prang Kasee to serve 105 children across Thong Pha Phum, Si Sawat, Sai Yok, and Sangkhla Buri districts.

Akara’s involvement reflects its deep belief in inclusive education and the importance of creating environments where every child can thrive physically, emotionally, and intellectually. This initiative underscores the company’s long-standing commitment to helping shape a society where no one is left behind.
Back-to-School Support: “Happy Hearts, Back to School” – Year 4
For the fourth consecutive year, Akara has supported the “Happy Hearts, Back to School” campaign, providing essential school supplies for children under the care of the Phichit Shelter for Children and Families, part of the Department of Children and Youth, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. Driven by the belief that “education is the gateway to opportunity,” Akara aims to ease the burden on underprivileged families and give children the tools they need to start the school year with confidence and hope.

“We believe in removing barriers to access and creating a supportive environment where children from all backgrounds can explore, learn, and discover their potential,” said Mr. Utha-aroon, General Manager – Sustainability at Akara.
