Brighton College – Accreditation GOLD for Brighton College Bangkok Brighton College Bangkok declared to be ‘OUTSTANDING’ in all inspection categories

Brighton College Bangkok was recently accredited by teams from the Educational Development Trust (EDT) and the British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspectorate.

A rigorous four-day visit in November 2023 saw more than 70 lessons observed, 25 meetings held with leaders, governors, staff, pupils, and parents; survey responses analysed, marking scrutinised, activities attended and all aspects of College life reviewed.

The response from the inspection team was overwhelmingly positive and Brighton College Bangkok received the highest awards that can be achieved: GOLD and OUTSTANDING.

Brighton College Bangkok Head Master Nick Gallop said: ‘This is a wonderful tribute to all the pupils and staff at Brighton College Bangkok. We know our school is such a special place to learn – and it is great to have this supported so emphatically by such an experienced inspection team.’

What did the inspectors say?

The inspectors awarded Brighton College Bangkok the highest score in every category. They drew particular attention to the academic outcomes of the pupils. Progress at Brighton College Bangkok was found to be outstanding at every level of the school – from Nursery through to Sixth Form – and the public examination results are not only the best in Thailand but among the best in the world

In addition, the school’s Early Years Foundation Stage and Sixth Form were praised as being excellent in the care, support, and challenge that they provide and offer for pupils. Comments from the inspectors included the following:

  • “The relationship between teachers and pupils is one of mutual trust and support – pupils love coming to school.”
  • “All members of the college community feel highly valued, appreciated, and supported to ‘Be the best version of yourself’.”
  • “Pupils are confident, with good self-esteem, and understand what makes them unique.”
  • The quality of the curriculum is outstanding. It consistently offers a rich, varied, and highly engaging learning environment that allows all pupils to develop their skills and abilities to their full potential.”
  • “A range of well over 100 stimulating co-curricular activities (CCAs) helps develop pupils’ talents and passions outside the classroom. “
  • “The college has established a strong partnership with parents and other stakeholders. Parents describe staff as being ‘passionate and caring about the children’”.

‘Safe and happy’

In addition to inspecting the educational side of life at Brighton College, inspectors also reviewed the school’s policies for safeguarding its pupils, for ensuring the health and safety of the entire community, its facilities and premises, and its policies on handling complaints too. All were declared to be outstanding.
