Malaysia Airlines Bestowed as Putra Brand Icon and Won Platinum in Transportation, Travel & Tourism at Putra Brand Awards 2020

The airline continues to be recognised for five consecutive years for its excellent brand positioning.

Malaysia Airlines today bagged home two Putra Brand Awards’ highest accolades; Putra Brand Icon for the year 2020 and the Platinum Award for Transportation, Travel & Tourism category.

The Putra Brand Awards is an annual premier brand awards event in Malaysia launched in 2010 by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) in association with Malaysia’s Most Valuable Brands (MMVB).

Having won an award in the Transportation, Travel & Tourism Category for five consecutive years since 2016, the airline’s latest winning has validated its position as the most trusted brand in travel across the region, offering top-notch service and customer experience to all. Meanwhile, the special Putra Brand Icon Awards are given to brands that have consistently delivered excellence by winning Gold in their respective categories four years in a row.

These awards mark a special cord this year, following a challenging 2020 in which the travel industry went through unprecedented change and innovation in the face of a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic.

According to Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airlines Berhad, Captain Izham Ismail“It is very humbling to receive these prestigious Putra Brand Awards, this year by the grace of the trust placed in us by the people. This win signifies and cements our stance in ensuring we place our customers as our centre of gravity in all of our decision-making, creating and paving the way for us to providing our customers with a premium, personal experience without compromising their safety.

The airline will continue to provide our customers with vital connectivity during these turbulent times while ensuring we do everything to ensure safe travel for them in line with our Fly Confidently campaign. This is a testament that the wealth of valuable and relevant content that we put out connects with our audience and has established a positive brand reputation by building the trust and connection.”

As an airline that cares, Malaysia Airlines launched the Fly Confidently campaign to raise awareness on its enhanced health and safety measures to connect with customers and restore their confidence in air travel. In contrast, the airline continues to provide them with a premium and personal experience. The airline also played an active role in supporting the local community through charitable donations to natural disaster victims, assisting families or individuals in need and supporting efforts to combat COVID-19. These include donating blankets and meals to medical frontliners at KLIA and ferrying PPE and medical supplies through sister companies, MABKargo and MASwings. To date, the airline has also operated more than 200 repatriation flights to bring our customers safely back home to their loved ones.

Adding to its win at the 2020 Putra Brand Awards, Malaysia Airline was also recently recognized at the HR Excellence Awards, receiving two gold awards for HR Leader of the Year and Excellence in Workplace Culture as well as landing a silver award for Excellence in Digital Transformation. Malaysia Airlines also received a 4-star rating from Skytrax and a 7-star COVID-19 compliance rating from AirlineRatings.com.
