Phuket, Thailand, 28 February 2022 – Marriott Bonvoy portfolio of hotels and resorts in Phuket in partnership with Scholars of Sustenance (SOS), a food rescue foundation, continue promoting food equity and delivering warm meals to the local community.
“Serving our world is not a trend. It’s one of Marriott’s core values. Here at Marriott, we are committed to giving back to the local communities where we live and work, especially in these challenging times.” said Mr. Brad Edman, Multi Property Vice President Phuket and General Manager at Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa. “Tourists continue to visit Phuket; however, the full business recovery is expected to take time and we are in it for the long-haul. The communities in which we operate continue to struggle and providing them nutritious meals and support is critically important. Our hotels and our associates will continue all efforts to promote food equity in the community.”
On 24 February, nine of Marriott Bonvoy portfolio of hotels and resorts in Phuket joined hands to cook and pack for over 900 lunch boxes to serve to local community members in Rawai, Rassada, and Koh Kaew. These delicious and nutritious meals are delivered to the community by SOS volunteers. All the lunch boxes are also packed in biodegradable food containers, in order to minimize single-use plastic and reduce waste.
Last year, Marriott Bonvoy portfolio of hotels and resorts in Phuket and Phang Nga together with SOS served over 17,000 nutritious meals to community members on the island and continue to do so in 2022.
Marriott Bonvoy portfolio of hotels and resorts taking part in this initiative include Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa Phuket, Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort, Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa Merlin Beach, Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa Nai Yang Beach, The Naka Island Resort & Spa, Four Points by Sheraton Phuket Patong Beach Resort, and Courtyard by Marriott Phuket Town.
