Silk Legal – Silk Legal Welcomes Mr. Allan McKinnon

Today, we are delighted to announce that Mr. Allan McKinnon will join Silk Legal as Chairman.

He will officially start with the company on 8 May 2024. Mr. McKinnon was Australia’s Ambassador to Thailand from January 2019 to mid-2022 and was Deputy Secretary and later National Security Advisor with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PMC). He has previously served overseas as Deputy Head of Mission and, before this, as Counsellor at the Australian Embassy, Tokyo. In Australia, he has served as National Security Advisor within PMC; Deputy Commander, Joint Agency Task Force – Operation Sovereign Borders; First Assistant Secretary, International Security Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT); First Assistant Secretary, Diplomatic Security, Information Management and Services Division, DFAT; First Assistant Secretary, Corporate Management Division, DFAT; and Advisor, Office of the Trade Minister.

Mr. McKinnon holds a Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the Australian National University and a Diploma in Law from the Legal Practitioners Board.

Mr. McKinnon will assist and guide Silk Legal in providing inbound and outbound investment services. He will also provide strategic guidance and direction to the firm as we expand in Thailand, Dubai, and the USA and assist in representing Silk Legal and Silk Advisory before the Thai and Australian governments and their agencies.

We welcome Mr. McKinnon to Silk Legal and are excited to have his considerable talent and expertise to assist our clients.
