‘Care for Cancer – 2017 Fun Run’ at Lumpini Park.

By Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel

In association with the Thai Red Cross Society, and with the support of the Canadian Embassy, Thai-Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CanCham) and FWD Life Insurance PCL., Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel presented the 9th ‘Care for Cancer’ charity fun run on Saturday 18 November 2017 in Lumpini Park.

Anantara Siam Bangkok is proud to continue this annual event to raise funds for cancer research, a commitment they’ve held for over 20 years. Under the theme “I care b’coz…., this charitable event allowed supporters and participants to share and express how cancer touches our lives in different ways. The proceeds will be donated to the ‘Genetic Cancer Research Centre’ at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, under the auspices of The Thai Red Cross Society.

The ‘Fun Run’ took place inside the Lumpini Park and promised to be a fun and enjoyable Saturday outing for families, joggers and health enthusiasts of all ages.  Both the 5 km and 10 km routes were perfect for running, walking or strolling at your own pace. Families with young children, or elderly relatives, are welcome to join the morning with various activities and prizes awaiting them. To add to the excitement, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit Trophy was awarded to the largest participating group. The first male and female runners to reach the finish lines of the 5 km and 10 km, also won a prize. In honour of the children taking part, the youngest running participants received recognition.

A minimum donation of THB 350 was required for race participation, representing the cost of an official ‘Care for Cancer’ t-shirt or THB 500 for a polo shirt, which also entitled the participants to a breakfast box and the chance to win exciting prizes such as accommodation vouchers at various Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas and many others.

Another event, the 10th Clutter Sale took place earlier this year at the hotel, to raise funds for cancer research in conjunction with the ‘Fun Run’. This one-day event was organised by the NewsMakers, comprising of senior editors, communications and public relations professionals in April 2017.
