Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok Presents “the Tale of the Full Moon” Design-centric Mooncakes by Thai Artist Jeep Kongdechakul

(5 July 2023 – Bangkok, Thailand) – Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok debuts its 2023 Kimpton Mooncake that honours the Year of the Rabbit through the illustrations by local Thai artist Jeep Kongdechakul, whose designs have been featured in many glossy fashion magazines and for brands such as Rimowa and BMW.

Drawing from Kimpton’s fashion-forward luxury, this year’s whimsical yet refined presentation of mooncakes for Mid-Autumn Festival gifting is inspired by the Chinese folktale of the noble Moon Rabbit and Chang’e, the Moon Goddess. The mooncakes are contained in a package featuring Jeep Kongdechakul’s imaginative illustrations of the elegant goddess’s fluffy loyal rabbit companion and prosperity symbols like the peony and the jade plant. The bright and bold floral designs are featured on the box and the reusable, origami-like bag it comes in.

Designed to convey love, appreciation and good fortune for the recipients, each Kimpton Mooncake collection comprises four distinct varieties including the traditional lotus seed with egg yolk, crowd-favourite durian with egg yolk, satisfying creamy custard and sweet and sour cranberry. Each individual mooncake comes in a bright diagonal hot pink and lime green striped modern box.

Kimpton Mooncakes are available for an early bird pre-order at THB 2,088 net per box (regularly priced at THB 2,488 net per box) from 14 July until 14 August 2023 and are available for pick-up at the hotel from 14 August onwards.
