Bangkok, Thailand, 21 February 2022 – Siam Tea Room, the casual café and authentic Thai eatery at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, is celebrating the arrival of summer in Thailand with the launch its new Khao Chae promotion, which will help diners to cool off in the hottest months of the year.
Throughout March, April and May 2022, guests can experience the fresh and fragrant flavors of Khao Chae, an elegant dish of chilled rice in jasmine-infused water with classic condiments. Literally meaning “soaked rice”, this seasonal specialty originated in the Mon Kingdom, before it was adopted and enhanced by the Royal Thai court during the reign of King Rama V (1868-1910).
The Khao Chae set menu at Siam Tea Room starts with an amuse bouche Icy Santol, bitter orange, shredded pork and fried shallots before moving on to the main course of rice in chilled jasmine-infused water, served with fried herbal fish and shrimp paste; fried green pepper stuffed with shrimp, minced pork and a fluffy fried egg; deep-fried shallots with minced fish; sweetened shredded pork; sweetened shredded sun-dried ray fish; stir-fried sweet radish with egg; fried butterfly pea stuffed with shrimp; fried salted egg yolk; and vegetable crudités. To complete this unique epicurean experience, diners will enjoy a freshly made watermelon lime juice.
Cool and refreshing, Khao Chae has now become a summertime favorite of the Thai people and is the traditional dish of Songkran, Thailand’s New Year festival.
Khao Chae will be available at Siam Tea Room every day from 11.30 – 16.30 hrs. from 1 March to 31 May 2022. It is priced at THB 590++/ set (dine-in and take away). Marriott Bonvoy and Club Marriott discounts apply. To join Marriott Bonvoy, please click HERE.
