Message From Chamber – September 2020

Brendan 1

“Dear Austcham Members and Friends,

“Greetings from your Chamber! It’s been a very busy month for AustCham, as we aim to deliver on the promises we made to sponsors and members at the start of 2020 – before the lockdown. This has seen us organizing three major events – the BevChain 2020 AustCham Golf Tournament, , the Australian Alumni Awards and the AFL Grand Final Family Day – all within a six-week period. Furthermore, we have engaged with our members at the Eastern Seaboard and in Phuket, plus our regular monthly Sundowners and Members Briefings: Chamber Business News.  We are pleased to report that the attendance and atmosphere so far has been outstanding and well worth making these events happen.

On the Advocacy front, our Customs Committee, together with our Australian Embassy colleagues, met with the Thai Customs Department Deputy Director General, Khun Phantong Loykulnanta and the Customs Alliance team recently to discuss potential collaboration opportunities between our organisations. The meeting is part of a wider effort of the Foreign Chamber Alliance (FCA) – AMCHAM, AustCham, BCCT, GTCC – and our strategic meetings with our respective Ambassadors and senior trade officials. We will keep you updated with our progress over the coming months.

Looking forward to October, we welcome speakers from Blackmores and Bangkok Hospital on the topic of “FIT TO GO: How to achieve healthy exercise and weight management” at our monthly Member Briefing, held prior to October Sundowners for the first time at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok.

A reminder the AFL Grand Final Family Day is not too far away, with the AFL finals series starting this weekend. Considered by many as the social event of the year, the AFL Grand Final Family Day is a great opportunity to get together with friends in the Australian-Thai community. Also, for the keen golfers we are delighted to be partnering with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to bring you the “Amazing Thailand Super Series” in Khao Yai on 31st October – 1st November and Pattaya on 21st – 22nd November. Not to be missed!

Finally, in our Member Corner, we are delighted to welcome three new members to the Chamber, and look forward to working with them on business and professional growth. We also continue to feature articles from our members below – if you would like to contribute to our Thought Leadership blog, please reach out to us!

Wishing you a successful month of October ahead!”
